Introducing Tamaiti — a children’s wear brand designed in Aotearoa by us, Te Ura Taripo-Hoskins (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hau, Rarotonga) and Antonia Fletcher (Tonga, Pākehā).
We have been friends for over a decade, and between us we have four beautiful Māori, Samoan, Kuki Airani, Tongan, and Pākehā tamariki.
We founded Tamaiti in 2024 with the whāinga of creating quality kākahu that reflects the realities of our tamariki and the communities surrounding them.
Whakapapa has always been at the forefront of our ethos. It has heavily influenced both our style and the kaupapa behind our brand. We wanted our tamariki and their cultures to be represented in the kākahu they wear every day, not just in special occasion pieces.
Our intention has always been to create quality crafted garments, utilising certified organic fabrics, with representation at the forefront of design, most importantly made to be worn, loved, and passed down through generations.
The garments will eventually be outgrown, the values behind them will remain.
